Chris Rossi - 'the old git'
It is with great sadness and affection that I must report to you the passing of a very much loved cricketer and character Christopher Rossi, it appears that he died peacefully at home this morning.
He played for The Stoics for many years and for many other clubs and representative teams including The Woodpeckers, Wiltshire 50's and 60's and I believe 70's and Malmesbury Cricket club. I believe he was last batting for The Woodpeckers only last Saturday, though we are not told how many he scored, no doubt he would have employed is elegant late cut (edge) to third man!
He had been suffering from cancer for many years now but fought it with a will and humour which belied the weakness and pain which it caused him, but you never a word of complaint, unless his glass was empty, and it never was metaphorically, or otherwise.
He was a connoisseur of many things, wine, women, cricket, rugby but more than anything else, life.
For those who wish to attend his funeral, which will be in Norfolk, details will be posted on this site as soon as we hear from the family.
I for one will not miss it - it will be a hell of a party! Rest in peace old mate.
Regretfully yours
Chris Heron
