The 2011 minutes were approved with amendments

REVIEW OF 2012

Chris Heron (treasurer) reported that the Stoics ended the season with only one defeat, a rare occurence due mainly to the appalling weather.

The playing record was: P10 W4 D5 L1. Cancelled 12. Fahim Qureshi and Dain Moreton scored 100 each in a one-sided match at Woodford Wells.

Heron paid tribute to Albert Hill's ability to conjure up players so that fixtures could be honoured. He said the T20 tournament hosted by Sunbury CC had been a successful, enjoyable event, which the Stoics won. A handsome cup was put on display as evidence. He described Sunbury as a "great venue" and mentioned that the food on offer needed to improve to encourage spectators and supporters to spend an afternoon or whole day at the ground.

Martin Pluck (chairman) commented that the finances simply tried to cover costs and he reckoned that the standard of games had improved from 2011. The aim was to ensure it was worthwhile taking a day off work to play. Heron mentioned that the Stoics website now had 271 names, which made contact more efficient.

The meeting was told that Ken Henderson, the president, could not attend due to his wife's illness with breast cancer. Chris Rossi, a very keen Stoic relatively late in his cricket career, was having radiotherapy for cancer and was too ill to make the journey from Wiltshire.

Richie Bowers was named as player of the year. This award carried £100 put up by the president for services to the club, on and off the field.

Before the Stoics officers were re-elected, Gavin Scovell let slip that he was now resident again in the UK and he was immediately co-opted on to the committee.
