Nagenda's biting delivery
John Nagenda, a Stoics regular and future Ugandan government minister,
was playing a match at Ditchling in Sussex. A fast-bowler for East Africa in
the 1975 World Cup a couple of seasons previously, he was about to start his
run-up when an old lady used a public right of way to amble slowly across the
middle of the pitch. She held up play for ages before making her way into the
nearby St Margaret's overflow graveyard. "And so to bed, madam,"
boomed an exasperated Nagenda.
